Payment statuses

How payment states flow from pending to succeeded, failed, or refunded.

Every order has a payment status that tracks the money. Understanding the flow helps you spot failed payments and follow up.

The payment lifecycle

Pending
The shopper started checkout and a payment intent was created, but the payment hasn't been captured yet.

Succeeded
The payment was captured successfully. The order is ready to fulfill.

Failed
The payment was declined or failed. The order remains in the system but should be followed up or cancelled.

Refunded
The payment was returned to the customer via your payment provider. The order is typically cancelled.
